Maple Leafs Sign Tim Connolly

A day after staying quiet at the start of NHL free agency, the Toronto Maple Leafs jumped in with a big splash.

The Leafs signed unrestricted free-agent centre Tim Connolly to a two-year contract reportedly worth US$9.5 million.

"This is the most excited I've been for a season in a long time," said Connolly from a hotel in the Turks and Caicos.

The move was announced Saturday only hours after marquee free-agent centre Brad Richards agreed to join the New York Rangers.

Its nice to see that Tim Connolly is excited to be a Leaf and although some fans are a little apprehensive I'm sure he will fit in just fine . Hope he doesn't take it too personally when fans say he is not exactly the signing they had hoped for .
Welcome to the mad house Tim Connolly
