Clarke MacArthur Suspened 2 Games

Maple Leafs forward Clarke MacArthur has been suspended for the remainder of the preseason and two regular season games for his hit on Justin Abdelkader of the Detroit Red Wings last night.

MacArthur met earlier today with NHL Vice President of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan to plead his case that he did not target the head of Abdelkader.

"Obviously I wasn't trying to target his head... I just grazed him and I think he was trying to draw a penalty," MacArthur said after last night's game. "It was just one of those plays [that] hopefully it shows it on the tape. But I was obviously going for his shoulder and trying to get out of the zone with the puck there."
