Andrei Markov to Undergo Knee Surgery

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery in the next few days, pushing his timeline for return back at least another three weeks.

Markov had been practicing with the team and was expected to return soon until this latest development.

"Despite his progress the team asked him to see a doctor here in Los Angeles," said Habs general manager Pierre Gauthier.

"The decision has been taken that he has arthroscopic knee surgery this week in order to clean up possibly some scar tissue but mostly some debris that have been left there and has been causing a lot of inflamation."
