It appears as though Blake Wheeler is about to get a significant raise.

The 23-year old forward received a one-year, $2.2 million award in arbitration.  He earned $875,000 last season.

The Boston Bruins now have 48 hours to sign the Robbinsdale, Minnesota native to a contract or walk away from the deal and allow Wheeler to become an unrestricted free agent.  It is expected that the two sides will come to a deal.

Wheeler had 18 goals and 20 assists in 82 games in his sophomore season in Beantown.  He added one goal and five assists in 13 post-season games.  He was originally a first round selection, fifth overall, of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
