Zdeno Chara Signs Contract Extension with Boston

Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara has signed a seven-year, $45 million contract extension with the team.

The 6'9, 260-pound blueliner has been with the Bruins since 2006-07, where he signed after spending four seasons with the Ottawa Senators.

Chara, the tallest player ever in the National Hockey League, had seven goals and 37 assists in 80 games with Boston last season.

A 33-year-old native of Slovakia, he originally selected 56th overall by the New York Islanders in the third round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft
