The New Jersey Devils have made it under the NHL's salary cap of $59.4 million.
According to sources, the Devils got under the cap by placing defencemen Anssi Salmela and Bryce Salvador on long-term injury.
Salvador will earn $2.9 million, while Salmela will make over $600,000 this season.
Players under long-term injury still get their full salary, but because of their injured stats, the money does not count under the cap.
Salvador is currently out of action because of a concussion, while Salmela has a knee injury.
With both players on LTI, Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello has more time to find an acceptable deal to get his team under the salary cap on a more permanent basis.
