It just keeps getting worse in the swamp.
The Devils announced that goalie Martin Brodeur will be out up to two weeks with a bruised elbow. The team said that an MRI exam on Brodeur's right elbow was negative, but he has been told to rest his elbow for around 10 days, which would likely mean that the earliest he could return would be against the Canadiens Dec. 2 - missing five starts.
Brodeur injured his elbow off a shot from Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane on Nov. 3. Three starts after the initial injury, he took himself out of a game against the Maple Leafs after two periods. He was examined Friday by the team's doctors, as well as Dr. Steve Beldner, who had operated two years ago on Brodeur's torn left biceps tendon.
"There is nothing structurally [damaged] there," said Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello, adding that Broduer should rest the elbow "for the next four or five days to get the swelling down.
