The Columbus Blue Jackets blueline had another set back at practice Sunday morning as Kris Russell left the ice after suffering a sprained knee.
Blue Jackets' general manager Scott Howson said that the 23-year old defenceman would undergo an MRI later in the day, but he expected Russell to miss between two and four weeks with the injury.
The Columbus Dispatch is reporting that Russell suffered the injury on one of his first shifts of practic after he hopped over the trail leg of Derick Brassard and felt a "tweak" in the knee as he planted his skate.
"It was a real innocent play," head coach Scott Arniel told the Dispatch. "He shifted all of his weight from one side and jumped over Brass' back foot and put all of his weight on his right leg and he felt a little something. He kept going but he obviously knew there was something wrong."
