Michael Leighton Injured - Out 1 Month

Philadelphia Flyers' goaltender Michael Leighton will be out for a month after he was diagnosed with a bulging disc in his back on Monday.

"Michael saw another doctor last night and a doctor this morning as well," said Flyers' general manager Paul Holmgren on the team's website. "It was discovered through those visits that right now we're dealing with a bulging disk in his lower back and we're going to put him on the shelf for about a month."

Veteran Brian Boucher and youngster Johan Backlund are expected to carry the load while Leighton works himself back to health.
