The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without Mike Comrie for three to four months after the veteran forward underwent successful hip surgery.
The Penguins said Wednesday the surgery was performed in Vail, Colo.
Comrie suffered the injury Oct. 9 against the Montreal Canadiens. He has missed the past 15 games as a result and was placed on injured reserve Dec. 10.
The five-foot-10, 185-pound Edmonton native signed with Pittsburgh as a free agent in September.
Comrie has five assists in 16 games this season.
