Alexander Radulov Trade Rumors - Staying in KHL?

Written by The Hockey News    PDF Print E-mail

Article from thehockeynews.com... Don’t expect to see Russian right winger Alexander Radulov returning to the NHL anytime soon.

Reports out of Russia late last week indicated Radulov, 24, had signed a two-year contract extension with Salavat Yulaef of the Kontinental League.

Radulov signed a three-year contract with the KHL team in the summer of 2008 despite having one year remaining on his entry level deal with the Nashville Predators.

Although the winger, through his agent, recently told Predators GM David Poile he could get out of any deal with his KHL team, Poile noted Radulov said the same thing about his current contract, yet remains in Russia.

If Radulov did return to the NHL it would be with the Predators, who still own his rights, and he’d have to complete the final year of his entry level contract.

This extension carries Radulov through 2012-13, covering the possibility of another NHL lockout.

Barring a collapse of the KHL, it’s apparent Radulov doesn’t want to return to the NHL, perhaps until a new CBA is in place.
