Rob Schremp Trade Rumors Signs New Contract

The New York Islanders have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with forward Rob Schremp.

Schremp, 24, posted a career-high seven goals and 25 points in 44 games played with the Islanders after being claimed off of waivers from Edmonton on September 29, 2009.

The Syracuse, NY, native missed the final 16 games of the 2009-10 season recovering from knee surgery.

"We were excited to pick up Rob at the start of last season when he was put on waivers, and he responded by putting together a strong rookie campaign," said Islanders General Manger Garth Snow. "We look forward to seeing him continue to improve and contribute at this level next season."

The Oilers selected Schremp in the with the 25th pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.  Schremp has tallied 171 points in 216 career AHL games.
