Tim Gleason Signs 4 year Contract Extension

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed defenceman TimĀ Gleason to a four-year contract extension.

The deal will pay the 29-year-old $3.5 million next season, $4.5 million in 2013-14 and 2014-15 and $3.5 million in 2015-16. The deal also has a full no-trade clause in the first two years of his four-year deal.

"We thank Tim for choosing to stay with the Hurricanes long term," president and general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement. "He is one of our core players, someone who brings character and leadership to our locker room, along with being a key piece on the ice. This is a very important signing for our team going forward."
