One day after informing Atlanta Thrashers general manager Rick Dudley that he would not be retained in the same position with the new Winnipeg NHL team, it appears True North Sports and Entertainment knows who they want to fill the role.

According to the Winnipeg Free Press, True North has offered the position to current Chicago Blackhawks assistant GM Kevin Cheveldayoff.

Cheveldayoff has been the assistant GM and senior director of hockey operations for the Blackhawks for two seasons. Before that, he was general manager of the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
