LA Kings defenseman Drew Doughty struggled this past season when comparing to his 2009-10 campaign, and it might hit him in the pocket book.
“The drop-off could wind up costing Doughty some dough if he stays with the Kings. He is a restricted free agent and some teams might still put up an offer sheet.
The NHL teams that are seriously thinking of offering him a contract are the Toronto Maple Leafs, NY Rangers and the Edmonton Oilers. The compensation to the LA Kings would be 3 or 4 first round picks depending on the contract offered.

The Kings also have Alec Martinez, Trevor Lewis, Oscar Moller, and Brad Richardson as RFA’s. It’s likely that Moller will be the only one not returning.
One team that has contacted the LA Kings to see if they are interested in trading Drew Doughty is the Detroit Red Wings.
