Rangers Aquire Lindberg from Coyotes for Werek

The Phoenix Coyotes acquired junior centre Ethan Werek from the New York Rangers on Sunday in exchange for Swedish centre Oscar Lindberg.

The 19-year-old Werek, from Markham, Ontario, spent this past season with the Kingston Frontenacs in the Ontario Hockey League. He had 24 goals and 28 assists in 47 regular-season games and three assists in three playoff games.

Werek, six-foot-two and 200 pounds, was selected 47th overall by the Rangers in the 2009 draft.

Lindberg, also 19, had five goals and nine assists in 41 regular-season games for Skelleftea HC in the Swedish Elite League, and added three goals and four assists in 18 playoff games. Lindberg, six-foot and 197 pounds, was selected 57th overall by the Coyotes in the 2010 draft.
